Case Study - Wastewater Treatment Monitoring
In 2004 Ed Gardyne of Safewell developed a skid mounted solution called EcoBay for treatment of industrial wastewater at source on client sites. The product allowed clients to treat their own wastewater removing excess suspended solids, oil and chemical prior to discharge to the foul sewer.

The product improves discharge quality compliance, reduces trade effluent costs and enhances the reputation of the clients concerned as they implement environmental best practice.
To enhance the product offering it was decided to combine the wastewater technology with the Viewprocess solution allowing the performance of the EcoBay skid to be monitored via GPRS and Internet.
To date several wastewater treatment units have been fitted with sensors and Viewprocess data modules and this solution has passed beyond proof of concept to demonstrating real value in terms of compliance monitoring and maintenance planning.
Safewell is currently discussing a number of wastewater applications of the Viewprocess technology including monitoring of parameters such as Total Organic Carbon, Chemical Oxygen Demand, pH and Total Hydrocarbons in wastewater.

Case Study - Loch Level Monitoring
Safewell was contacted by a specialist Atlantic salmon breeding company based near Lochgilphead, Argyll on the West Coast of Scotland to provide a solution for remote loch level monitoring. The water from the loch is used in a private hydro scheme to generate electricity for the salmon farm process to sustain the juvenile fish stock. The level of the remote lochs is therefore crtiical to the efficient and sustainable operation of the process.

Case Study - Factory Dust Collector Monitoring
Safewell has recently implemented a remote monitoring solution for the Donaldson Torit PowerCore dust collector product using its Viewprocess product. Powercore is a market leading, advanced solution for ambient air control in industrial environments.

The solution allows the performance of Powercore units in the field to be monitored in real time via GPRS data networks. Data is logged and presented on the Safewell Viewprocess web site.
The key process indicators allow the manufacturers experienced staff to assess the peformance of the product and determine the optimum time for maintenance and service interventions. This Viewprocess solution is currently being evaluated by Donaldson at various sites throughout Europe.

Case Study - Compressed Air Dryer Monitoring
In many process industries dry, oil free compressed air is essential for the process e.g. food, pharmaceutical, soft drinks, the sector list is extensive.
An essential item of equipment installed on compressed air supplies is the air dryer designed to remove water vapour and other contaminants from the compressed air. To prevent damage to product and reputation it is essential that the air dryers and filter equipment used on critical air supplies are selected carefully at the outset to provide a high margin of safety at all times.Energy efficiency is also vitally important since compressed air is an expensive utility to waste.

The life cycle maintenance of the equipment is absolutely key to mitigating product risk and reducing waste.
Safewell has implemented a remote monitoring solution for compressed air purification dryers using its Viewprocess product.
Viewprocess allows key performance indicators to be measured, monitored and logged in real time. Data is uploaded to our secure servers and is then accessible using a standard browser on PC's or 3G mobile hand sets. Graphical data is automatically created for review and comparison. SMS text messages are configured to provide automatic alerts when any of the key process parameters indicates a potential risk to the air quality or inefficient use of compressed air.
