Service and Calibration
Maintenance of Breathing Air Purification Units
It seems obvious that equipment used to purify and test compressed breathing air for the safety of operatives should be regularly serviced and calibrated however we still find cases where service and maintenance is overlooked causing potential risk to the lungs of air users.
To assist clients Safewell provides a complete SafeCare maintenance service for its own ALG range of breathing air purifiers and those supplied by other manufacturers e.g. DH BA2010. Full service records are stored in a data base searchable by asset number and client name. The service reports detail the service work carried out, the parts and consumable elements used to carry out the service, images of the equipment showing notable features such as case damage, corrosion, and damaged components. Service reports are associated with air quality test records which validate the purification unit prior to re-use. All service reports and air quality test records are stored in a dedicated secure client account accessible via our web site. Examples of these can be accessed via the links below.
Calibration of Air Purity Analysers
The Safewell air analyser is used to validate the quality of compressed breathing air passing into the lungs of operatives engaged in work in hazardous atmospheres. Correct validation is therefore absolutely critical to prevent damage to the well being of the worker concerned.
The Safewell air purity analyser is supplied with a calibration certificate valid for one year of operation under normal conditions of use. The calibration certificate validates the oxygen sensor, flow rate to the chemical tubes, pressure gauge, temperature readings and the microprocessor real time clock. Calibration is carried out using calibration masters traceable to UKAS.
Following one year of operation the air purity analyser displays a calibration message instructing the owner to return the unit for recalibration. This is necessary to assess the general condition of the unit, check and recalibrate the tube flow rates, check and if necessary replace the oxygen sensor and check operation of the temperature sensors. During each recalibration units are checked to ensure the internal pipe work is not contaminated by oil or compressor condensate.
Safewell maintains a complete data base of air purity analyser calibration records and these are also stored in a dedicated secure client account accessible via our web site. An example certificate can be viewed by following the link below.
