ATEX Filtration

Under ATEX process, areas are classified into zones defining the level of risk. For areas subject to potential contamination by gas, oil vapour or oil mist areas are classified as zones 0,1,2 where zone 0 is the highest risk of an explosive atmosphere being present. For areas subject to potential contamination by dust, areas are classified as zones 20, 21, 22 where zone 22 is the highest risk.

Safewell has many years of experience in the design and implementation of process systems for use in such areas associated with process as used in the oil and gas industry and can help clients specify and implement suitable compressed air filtration configurations.

Working with Donaldson Filtration Solutions we can specify compressed air filtration solutions for use in zone 2 and zone 22 ATEX zones. It is also possible to engineer solutions for zone 1 and zone 22 following detailed study.

A range of ATEX compressed air filters are available off the shelf for zone 2 & 22 application with flow capacities from 35 to 1100 m3 / hour matching conventional compressor capacities between 2 and 120 KW. The filter housings feature no electrical components, special ATEX earthing features and ATEX labelling with a complete range of filter types available including coalescing, particle and activated carbon filters.
