Functional Safety Course in London

Safewell attended a course in London on 9th/10th May covering the Functional Safety Standards IEC61508 / 61511.

The HSE recognise IEC61508 / 61511 as reference standards for determining whether a reasonably practicable level of functional safety has been achieved when designing and implementing automation systems for safety critical tasks.

The course provided a detailed appraisal of the standards and how they are used to assure safety of control and instrumentation systems.

Safewell is currently working with the industry in an Oil and Gas Producers (OGP) http://www.ogp.org.uk working group to develop an effective audit tool to validate safety compliance in this area and the course was absolutely relevant to this objective.
