The Safewell ATEX zone 2 certified Breathing Air Mobile Unit is a fully integrated product for respiratory protection whenever compressed air is used for breathing support in the Oil and Gas / Industrial sector. The unit has been designed to cool and purify compressed air from any type of existing compressor e.g. existing diesel compressors to breathing quality standards for use by four operatives breathing simultaneously.

Users can now breathe easy in the knowledge that the known risk factors have been identified and mitigated using an intelligently designed product providing breathing quality compressed air in accordance with the European Standard BS EN 12021:2014.

The product integrates the proven Safewell ALG purification technology with a pneumatic aftercooler, condensate system and emergency backup storage cylinders all in a compact mobile unit on wheels. The ATEX zone 2 compliance, allows the product to be safely used in ATEX zone 2 ambient environments containing explosive gas both onshore and offshore.

The intelligent design of the product ensures that the interface between the external compressor and the Safewell ALG purifier is managed safely with enhanced air cooling and efficient removal of compressor condensate. The functional and safety performance of the product has been extensively validated.

The product has been designed, tested and validated for compliance to the Machinery directive (2006/42/EC), the ATEX directive (2014/34/EU) and the noise emissions directive (2000/14/EC).

An optional emergency backup air supply is provided stored in 3 x 9L high pressure cylinders and when on-line breathing air is provided automatically if the compressor shuts down. A pneumatic alarm is also provided. The high pressure design is independently validated in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Directive PED (2014/68/EU).

The Safewell ATEX certified breathing air mobile purification unit is a high quality safety product and like any safety product it requires effective maintenance and testing during the product life cycle to maintain the safety performance. The product has been design for ease of maintenance and Safewell works closely with its clients to manage the lifecycle safety of the product including training, spares holding, service, testing and revalidation.
